Foot Cozies
I finally finished a pair of felted slippers for Dan. My first attempt at upsizing the Knitty "Fuzzy Feet" pattern resulted in a pair of slippers so large around the instep that Dan pronounced them unwearable. I thought they looked fine, but I didn't have to wear them. Because felted items do not ravel, I merely cut them up, edged them with blanket stitch, and we now have a lovely set of coasters. It was a while before I was ready to try again.
I thought long and hard about how to take in just the instep. Everything else fit fine - cuff, heel, length, etc. Finally I decided I would try a cable on the instep. I did several swatches and felted them, finally deciding on pattern 8.11 from the Harmony Aran cables guide. In order to make the cables contiguous, I ran a single rib down each side of the front, and then drew them in for the cable just at the instep. Strangely enough, it worked! We now have a well-fitting pair of slippers for Dan, with a subtle cable pattern on the front. Voila:
I wrote everything down, and I have a fool-proof slipper pattern for my husband. These were knit in Naturegaarn on US 10.5 needles. Now I need to decide what to start next!

Could you possibly amend or add to, Teresa's original Fuzzy Feet pattern, your "manly" version, so it can be followed as a pattern for all of us who may not understand your notes included with your picture. I appreciated, but was confused by the explanation of using 52 stitches and adding a cable. I love both versions of the Fuzzy Feet, but I'm not very good at pattern writing. Thanks, Abbe.
